For millions of people worldwide, coffee is the most important beverage. It helps folks wake up in the morning, concentrate on the task at hand, and even socialize with others. That first morning coffee is almost like a sacred ritual to coffee lovers around the globe. It’s almost impossible to imagine a conversation with a co-worker, friend or family member without that most popular of social binders.
Whether you can’t imagine life without coffee or just drink it for that boost of energy it provides, you may be wondering how many cups you actually need per day. You may also be wondering how to choose the perfect coffee. And/or how to make the most of the benefits that drinking this beverage can bring you.
These are questions I have been asking myself for a long time. After being a coffee aficionado for a long time, I stopped drinking it for almost two decades. However, I started drinking it again a few years back when the company I work with launched an amazingly healthy and delicious organic coffee.

One of the main reasons I let coffee back into my life is that it can be extremely good for physical and mental health. Of course, the extent to which coffee can enhance your health depends on a number of factors, such as how well your body reacts to this popular beverage, the quality of the coffee you are drinking, and what you are putting in your coffee.
The Health Benefits
There are countless studies supporting the notion that coffee is healthy. Now we know that there are many health benefits associated with drinking coffee on a regular basis. To begin with, it can boost your metabolism and help you lose and maintain weight. If you are a sports type or just love being physically active, I have good news for you too! Coffee can improve athletic performance, especially when it comes to endurance exercises and sports. And there’s more. Coffee can prevent a myriad of serious diseases such as diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s, among others. Coffee has only recently become interesting for scientists and researchers. More and more studies are currently underway, which means that we have yet to learn of coffee’s many other health benefits.
Choosing the Best Coffee
It is important to keep in mind that coffee may not bring benefits to everyone. Whether you are going to experience the health benefits of it or not depends on your own body. It also depends of the type of coffee you drink. This is why it is crucial to listen to what your body is telling you. Then choose only the best coffee available, accordingly. For example, if you’re sensitive to caffeine, you may want to opt for high-quality, naturally decaffeinated coffee. Also, as coffee is very acidic, if you have digestive issues, you may want to consider drinking the one with low acid. In this case, low acid coffee can make a big difference in how well it agrees with your GI tract.
Another thing to bear in mind is that coffee is one of the most heavily sprayed crops ever. This means that is it packed with pesticides, which can be very, very detrimental to your overall health. This is especially true for people who have been drinking it for years, even decades. The longer you drink it, the more toxic residue accumulates in your body. In order to prevent pesticides and other toxins from harming you, I highly recommend going with organic coffee. This is the healthiest type of coffee – and it is important to note that it certainly tastes delicious!
What to Put in Your Coffee?
If you, like thousands upon thousands of people, like your coffee sweet and creamy, you should be very careful. Sugar has been tied to a plethora of medical conditions. Artificial sweeteners and other sugar substitutes are extremely unhealthy and can lead to various health problems too. The solution to this problem is to sweeten your beverage with organic stevia or some other natural wholesome sweetener.
When it comes to creaminess, I suggest opting for one of the natural dairy free coconut or almond creamers or even a splash of organic milk or organic cream (if you must). Still, it should also be used in moderation – ideally, just once per day. Unfortunately, this is not an option for people on a dairy-free diet. If you cannot or do not want to consume dairy, however, you may want to put natural organic coconut creamer or oil in your coffee. This way you will enjoy your every cup to the fullest.
How Many Cups Is too Many?
As you may have figured out, there is no right answer to this question. If drinking coffee feels good and doesn’t cause any side-effects such as insomnia, feel free to enjoy your cup. On the other hand, if you can’t handle it too well, you may want to consider drinking other types of coffee. If that doesn’t do the trick, maybe it would be best to stop drinking it altogether.
No matter how beneficial coffee can be, if it prevents you from getting a good night’s sleep or if it upsets your stomach, then it’s just not worth it. Like with any type of food or drink, it is vital to pay attention to the signs your body is giving you after consumption. If your body loves coffee as much as you love it, the answer to how many cups you should be drinking per day is the same . Closely listen to your body and you will know when enough is enough.
